Tutor of Violin, Viola and Music Theory
Kate completed her Bachelor of Music with Distinction from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, studying with Matthew Jones, where she was generously supported by the Norman Gee Foundation. During her studies she was awarded the Max and Peggy Morgan Prize for Viola and the Concert Recital Diploma. Kate has given solo recitals in a number of the UK’s leading concert halls, including St Martin in the Field’s and Milton Court Concert Hall.
Whilst at GSMD, Kate performed several times with the GSMD Symphony Orchestra in the Barbican Hall, including side-by-side performances with the LSO and Sir Simon Rattle, and the Australian Chamber Orchestra.
In 2017, Kate became co-principal viola of the Skallsjö Sommarorkester, since joining the ensemble she has been involved in concert tours of Sweden, Norway and Denmark. In January 2018 the orchestra were awarded the Vecci Scholarship, which was presented with a concert in the Göteborgs Konzerthaus.
Kate is a member of Ret Frem ensemble, a contemporary music ensemble promoting the works of living composers. With the ensemble she has competed in the Nonclassical Battle of the Bands Final and will be touring Scandinavia, performing a range of works, including a new commission by Frej Wedlund.
