Louis C.

Tutor of Piano and Music Theory

Louis is an Australian musician and theatre-maker who has taught piano and music theory for over 10 years. He completed his AMEB (the Australian equivalent of ABRSM) 8th Grade in Piano when he was 16 and began teaching shortly after. He has since taken many students through to their own ABRSM exams up to the 8th Grade achieving consistently high results and sending many students on to do diplomas and undergraduate degrees in music.

Using a teaching style that blends a fun and relaxed atmosphere with a focus on expression and technique, Louis prides himself on providing a teaching experience that places joy at the heart of all his lessons. Since first playing the piano at age 3, music has been central to Louis's life and he is always looking to share and enjoy it with new students no matter their age or experience.

"I literally am moved to tears when I listen to music daughter play the piano. It’s not that she’s a musical prodigy and executes scores with absolute precision, it’s the feeling she conveys when she plays, the enjoyment that is so evident in her appreciation of music in all its genres. Trust me, this was not always the case so I am forever indebted to Louis for being an instrumental part of her musical journey. His encouragement, ability to relate to his student plus his own musical talent over time yields so much more than just successful grading marks! An absolute find, I highly recommend if you have the opportunity to work with him. He’s pure magic when it comes to nurturing confidence and skill in young musical minds." - Nina S

"Louis has been invaluable in shaping my son Julian into a wonderful musician. We came to Louis when Julian was 10 years old and together they worked all the way through to 8th Grade Piano where Julian received a Distinction. He has since been accepted into an undergraduate degree at a top music conservatoire. I cannot thank Louis enough for being such a nurturing and fun teacher who has shaped my son’s life for the better. Thank you Louis!" - Tamara K
