TERMS & CONDITIONS
FOR IN SCHOOL LESSONS
(for parents of students)
The terms and conditions commence as soon as you have hired (on behalf of yourself or someone else) River Music School London for music lessons.

Lessons are booked and paid for in advance. They can be paid on a minimum of a 13 lesson basis (one whole term).

Lessons are only booked once the payment has been made. Payments must be made at least 72 hours in advance of the lesson time to assure confirmation.

Without proof of payment, lesson slots will not be allocated.

Lesson fees are disclosed in the Music Application Form which you can request from your school.

We uphold a strict safety policy both for our students and our tutors, in alignment with Data Protection policies and ICO requirements. Tutors who teach at schools have all undergone an Enhanced DBS Check and have been confirmed as eligible. For privacy and security reasons, we are not able to disclose full names or contact details of tutors on their behalf.

In order to cancel or reschedule a lesson, you must give us a minimum of 24 hours' notice, otherwise this is counted as a late cancellation and we are required to charge you in full for the lesson. We respect and value our tutors' time, therefore, we implement this policy to ensure that they are paid fairly and in accordance with their allocated lessons.

In the case of a late cancellation due to medical emergency or sickness, we require: a signed doctor's note; a school/work letter-headed note; or an incident report on the date of the cancellation as valid evidence to be able to reschedule the missed lesson, otherwise it will be counted as late cancellation.

You may request a full refund 7 days before the start of your lesson package. We cannot refund you once your lesson package has commenced. If your circumstances are extreme we might at our discretion be able to organise an alternative arrangement in which you can redeem the lessons fee. We recommend that before you book lessons, you have had starter lessons with us.

In the case that a lesson is conducted before payment is made, you are required to make the payment of the lesson as soon as possible. Failure to make payment of an unpaid lesson will result in termination of your lessons and late penalty fees.

Cancelled lessons (on your behalf) can be rescheduled, given that you have told us at least 24 hours prior. The rescheduled lesson will be subject to the availability of the tutor.

Cancelled lessons (on our behalf) will be rescheduled on an agreed date and time, or refunded at your request.

The lesson starts and ends at the time agreed by both parties. Lessons will happen on the dates and times agreed between RMS London and the school (subject to the availability of the tutor). We work with schools to ensure that your child does not miss out on any classes that are integral to their particular needs.

A few minutes is given before the end of the lesson to set homework.

The tutor agrees to give as much notice as possible if they are late to the lesson or if the lesson is cancelled at short notice. Any time delayed or lost by the tutor will be added to either the delayed lesson at the end, or the next lesson(s).

RMS London will give one month's notice via email or text if there are any changes in the prices of the lessons. The change of price will not actualise for the lessons you have already booked, they will commence for the next package you book.

If your tutor is on holiday or unavailable, we will strive to find a temporary replacement tutor depending on availability.

As much as we encourage our tutors to give as much advanced notice of any change of circumstances, schedule or cancellation, we cannot guarantee that the tutor will always be able to meet such demands and you agree that RMS London is not responsible for the tutor's consistency or behaviour. We will aim to resolve any inconsistencies, and if possible aim to find you a suitable replacement tutor. We advise you bring up any issues or updates with us as soon as possible so that we can help you. In the case that a tutor is not attending lessons or is acting in an improper manner, any remaining lessons within your lesson package will not be used up and reserved for future use with another tutor or refunded if requested.

It is the student's responsibility (and if applicable, the parents'/guardians' responsibility) to understand that practice is necessary in achieving noticeable and purposeful progress.

All lessons which you have booked must be taken within 6 months, otherwise they will be forfeited.

You may request suggestions of books and other materials from RMS London, however the cost of these materials is entirely the student's responsibility.

If you'd like us to book an exam for you, we add a £12 administration fee to the exam fee. Digital downloads of certificates are free, and printed copies are £6.

Upon booking lessons with RMS London, you are automatically subscribed to our emailing list. You are welcome to opt out any time by sending us an email or text.

If you have given us your address, we may send you a festive card at the end of the year!

River Music School London has ensured that tutors are eligible to teach in schools, and provide the school with a Letter of Assurance.

Sending payments directly to the tutor is strictly prohibited. We pride ourselves in our safety and security principles, and if payment is made to the tutor we hold no legal responsibility of any issues that may arise as a result.

You agree to disclose any medical conditions that can affect the student's learning and interaction, so that we are able to supply you with a compatible tutor who is able to accommodate to their needs.

In the event of a medical emergency, you agree that the tutor is authorised to seek professional medical help.

Your data is protected under the Data Protection act, and we are a member of the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). More information on our privacy policy is available at: Privacy Policy.

We have constituted several documents on our policies, which you can read at: Our Policies.

Students, tutors, parents and/or guardians are expected to report any incidents to River Music School London as soon as possible, so that we are able to assist accordingly.

When working with schools, we aim that our tutors abide by your school's safeguarding policy. Read ours at: Child Safeguarding Policy.
By hiring your tutor through us, you agree that River Music School London has no liability or responsibility towards any damage or incident, and that we are not liable for any acts of your tutor. Please report any incidents to the Director of River Music School London.
