With a musical background spanning jazz, R&B, pop and contemporary music, Karely brings a versatile and creative approach to her teaching. She has also spent three years developing her musicianship through Tomorrow's Warriors, working with established jazz musicians and educators, and has performed at venues and events including the Royal Albert Hall's Elgar Room and Cheltenham Jazz Festival. Her experience as an active performer informs her lessons, allowing her to combine strong musical foundations with practical skills in improvisation, ensemble playing and musical expression.
Karely has experience teaching guitar both privately and as a Visiting Guitar Tutor at The Priory School in Birmingham, working with students of different ages, abilities and musical interests. She enjoys creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment, tailoring lessons to each student's individual goals, whether they are picking up the guitar for the first time, developing their technique, learning their favourite songs or exploring more advanced concepts such as music theory and improvisation.
Alongside guitar, Karely has an advanced understand of music theory for contemporary music and holds ABRSM Grade 7 Theory for classical music theory. She is comfortable incorporating aural skills, rhythm, harmony and general musicianship into her teaching. She has also been involved in supporting jazz workshops and group learning sessions.
Fluent in both English and Spanish, Karely is passionate about making music education accessible, engaging and rewarding. Above all, she hopes to inspire students to develop their own musical identity, build confidence in their abilities and discover a lasting enjoyment of music.
