Katie S
Violin and Music Theory
Growing up in a musical family and surrounded by music at home, Katie began learning the violin aged 7. As a young learner, she learned with various highly respected violinists including Katherine Miller and Gwenllian Richards.
Katie studied Music at The University of Sheffield, where she graduated with a 2:1 in 2019. She was taught and inspired by violinist Morven Bryce at University, and played extensively in various ensembles, leading the University of Sheffield Symphony Orchestra in her final year. During the same year she auditioned and played first violin in the National Youth Orchestra of Wales, conducted by the eminent Andrew Litton.
During lockdown she applied and was accepted to study a Masters of Music at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. It was during this time that she began teaching both adult and child beginner learners online. Katie is now studying her MA in Music Education and Performance.
Katie has worked and taught in schools for nearly three years, and thoroughly enjoys combining her flair and enthusiasm for music with her experience working with children to teach young violinists and inspire them at every stage of their musical journey.
