Born in Felixstowe, Suffolk, Matt started teaching himself to play the bass at 13 and performed his first gig when he was 14. He also received lessons from world class bassists Tiago Coimbra (Hiromi, Maceo Parker, Dennis Rollins) and Tony Cimorosi (Randy Brecker, Jeremy Wall).

Matt has also completed a postgraduate degree in Composition at Goldsmiths, University of London where his focuses were on Modern Classical composition techniques (serialism, post serialism, graph based music) and Music For Moving Media.

Some of his career highlights include numerous festival tour dates with Sweet Crisis and Lepage Dean such as Ramblin’ Man festival, Cheltenham Jazz festival, Nanjing Jazz festival and featuring alongside legendary Jazz saxophonist, Bill Evans, and guitarist, Mike Stern, on the album Only Two Things Are Infinite by Chanan Hanspal.

Matt now lives in North London where he divides up his time between performing around the U.K., teaching and composing.

"Matt is an excellent bass teacher; relaxed, patient and flexible, and he communicates clearly with my 8 year old son and I. My son enjoys choosing basslines from his favourite songs and then working with Matt on them over a few sessions. Matt weaves in musical theory, keeping it fairly subtle for the time being! He also shares our love of funky bass and throws in some nice surprises along the way to keep my son engaged. We alternate lessons - Matt teaches my son on his own one week and then me and my son together the next which works nicely too. Highly recommended!" - Marco, parent

"I’ve been learning piano & music theory with Matt since the beginning of November. He is an intelligent, calm, knowledgeable, genuine and patient teacher who is thorough in his direction. In the short time I have been learning piano my wife has been astounded at how quickly I have picked things up. I would highly recommend him to any potential student wanting to learn the piano, bass guitar and/or music theory." - Izzy, student

"In the time he worked with my son, Matt Duduryn was punctual, reliable and organised. He was very good at communicating with us about activities completed in the lessons and practice he had set. It was evident from this communication that Matt has a very conscientious attitude towards his students and gives thought to supporting their progress. In turn, he was mindful of how we could support these lessons as parents. Matt was always professional, friendly and patient. He took a positive approach at all times and my son was always happy to attend his lessons. In addition, Matt is generous in sharing his own musical interests to foster enthusiasm in his pupils. This gave a wider context to learning music which we appreciated." - Laura, parent
