Owen P
Guitar, Songwriting, Music Production
Owen is a professional guitarist, songwriter, and producer, and a graduate of the prestigious Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA), founded by Sir Paul McCartney, where he earned a BA Honours degree in Music. With years of experience as both a live performer and studio musician, Owen brings a broad, practical, and industry-informed understanding of music to his teaching. He began learning guitar at the age of seven and has remained deeply engaged in music ever since, taking on his first student at nineteen and steadily developing his approach as both an educator and professional musician.
Owen’s teaching approach is highly individualised, with a strong emphasis on building musical confidence, creativity, and a genuine enjoyment of the instrument. He has taught students of varying ages, abilities, and needs, ranging from young children to adults with additional learning requirements. His extensive knowledge of modern music production software allows him to offer a well-rounded and contemporary learning experience, helping students understand how instrumental technique translates into recording, songwriting, and modern music creation. Through his work as a session guitarist - collaborating with major-label artists and producers - Owen has developed expertise across multiple playing styles, including finger style and slide, as well as a clear understanding of the distinction between amateur-level performances and the professional standard required for released recordings.
A particular strength of Owen’s musicianship lies in his songwriting. He possesses a deep understanding of song structure, melody, harmony, and chord progressions, which firmly grounds his teaching in real-world musical application. His experience performing live both as a featured artist and as an accompanying guitarist across Liverpool and London has further equipped him with the skills to guide students in areas such as stage confidence, managing performance anxiety, and engaging an audience effectively.
At the core of Owen’s work as a teacher is a genuine passion for nurturing developing musicians. He remains deeply committed to supporting young talent, approaching teaching with the same sense of encouragement and curiosity that was extended to him when he first began his musical journey.
