Piano and Music Theory
Patrick is a professional classically trained pianist of 20 years. He has been teaching piano for 8 years to students of all ages and abilities, and teaches both classical and jazz piano. He has helped prepare pupils for grade exams or simply helped them discover and learn the joy of the piano. After passing his Grade 8, he went on to graduate from Westminster University with a degree in Commercial Music. He has since been working on his ABRSM Piano Diploma. He is also a graduate of the CYM, Centre for Young Musicians, a division of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. During his years at the CYM, he studied Jazz piano under Steve Lodder, and has a strong understanding of Jazz theory, classical music theory and has played in numerous ensembles, trios, quartets, big bands and more.
Patrick has toured with numerous rock bands and has performed at the 02 Academy, the Royal Festival Hall, the Guildhall, the City of London Festival and many other festivals and live music events. He has also previously worked as a session player and as the principle organist at Christ the King Church and the Mary Undercroft Chapel at the Palace of Westminster.
Patrick brings his practical and real world experience to all his lessons, helping his pupils learn a full range of different skills and techniques. He always caters lessons to his pupils individually based on their goals and to ensure that they are able to achieve the most out of every lesson.
