Wai-Yi W.

Tutor of Piano and Music Theory

Wai-Yi is a London-based pianist and media composer from Hong Kong. Wai-Yi began learning the piano at the age of 6, and she has been teaching for over 12 years. She has relocated to London since January 2022 and has begun her music career in the UK.

After graduating with a bachelor degree in Music from Hong Kong Baptist University in 2013, she got the third prize of New Generation 2015 with her piece “Conation” written for Chinese Music Ensemble, which is a composition contest organized by Hong Kong Composers’ Guild and Radio Television Hong Kong Radio 4.

With the master degree of Scoring for Film, Television and Video Games obtained from Berklee College of Music in 2017, she found her passion in exploring the possibility of making music as a unity with images. She has scored for over 30 short films, television series, theatre, concerts and exhibitions. Her works has been recorded and performed in the UK, Hungary and Spain, including AIR Studios in London.

Wai-Yi aims at making lessons an enjoyable and unique one for each student, helping them to develop their musical sense. Her students are aged between 3 and 43. She teaches piano (classical, contemporary) and music theory.
